Three Way to be Authentic in Your Marketing

Marketing shouldn't feel sleazy or inauthentic. Many of us know the feeling,  and it stinks! My husband and I experienced this the first time we bought a truck. We had been looking for a truck for months and spotted one we liked at a local dealership. Before we knew it we were being shown a newer, shinner, model that was DOUBLE the price of the truck we originally stopped to see.

Long story short, we ended up buying the newer more expensive truck. However, we didn't keep the truck long because it was way more than we needed. We eventually sold the truck for a smaller model that better fit our needs.

It's never a good feeling to be pushed, or manipulated into buying something that isn't the right fit. In order to have authentic marketing, you need to connect with people. You want your marketing to attract the right people to your business. Facebook ads can be a great way to be authentic and genuine. In this blog, I'm going to share three ways to make your social media ads authentic.

1. Find Your Match

The first thing you need to have to be authentic and genuine in your marketing is to know who you serve. Think about the clients you have enjoyed working with in the past and start to tailor your marketing to that specific person. I know some companies that go as far as to name their ideal client avatar and create an entire made-up life for this imaginary person.

When you get clear about who you are serving, you can speak more authentically and directly to the specific needs, wants, and desires of that person. This helps your marketing connect with people and let them know you understand them and have something that could help them.

2. Vary Your Ads

The second way to be authentic and genuine in your marketing is to vary your ads. Even within your specific ideal client avatar, you will find people with different buying habits, triggers, and personalities. You want to vary your ad headlines, ad copy, change it up from an image to a video, and see what people resonate with. You may find one type of ad resonates with this set of people and another type of ad that resonates with another.

Varying your ads allows you to reach more people because not all people are the same (which means your ads shouldn't be either).

3. Serve First

The last tip I have for creating authentic marketing is to come from a place of service. Talk about how you can help them or serve them in your marketing. Think about the results you've been able to get for other clients, how working with you has positively impacted their life. Now, if someone doesn't work with you they will never have that life-changing opportunity.

You don't want to push them, but you do want to share with them why you are so passionate about what you do and how you intended to help them. Also, another pro-tip is to think about both the external and internal problems you solve. For example, I run a Facebook  Ad company the external problem I solve is running ads, helping companies grow, and scale. The internal problem I solve is helping brands have a greater impact in the world around something they are passionate about.

There you have it; three tips on how to be more authentic in your marketing. Get specific about who you serve, vary your ads, and come from a place of service. You won't have to worry about coming across as sleazy or pushy.
