Ready for a Wildly Successful Ad Campaign?

Are you ready to run the most successful ad campaign yet? If so, there are a few factors that will greatly impact the results of your ad campaign and I am sharing all the trade secrets in this blog. If you want to know the top three keys to a wildly successful ad campaign then keep reading.

Having a Health Budget

The first key to a successful ad campaign is to have a healthy budget. A large monthly ad budget can sustain a full-funnel of ads and gain enough traction to optimize. Facebook ads need 20 actions each week to optimize. This means if you are running a traffic ad then Facebook needs 20 landing page views each week to optimize. You also want to have enough of a budget to sustain a full-funnel of ads. This will allow you to retarget your audience and walk them through a journey.

Instead of running one ad asking people to make a purchase from you, try running three separate campaigns that retarget people along the way. Your top of funnel ad could be a video view campaign, then retarget all the people who watch the video with a traffic ad, and then retarget each person that lands on your website with a conversion ad asking for the sale. This way by the time you ask for the big sale you have warmed them up to your brand.

I recommend a monthly budget at or above $1,000. This allows you to spread out your budget to support three separate ad campaigns with retargeting. A healthy budget also allows you to test multiple audiences and ads without straining your budget and it helps you get out of the learning phase faster. Feel free to play around with a smaller budget and explore all the features in Facebook ads manager, but when you are ready to set up a full-funnel of ads and pull in some serious results a healthy budget will be key in the overall success of your campaign.

Testing

The second factor in a successful ad campaign is testing. This is vitally important to bringing down your cost per conversion and seeing the largest return on investment with your Facebook ads. I recommend testing as much as you can. Test different audiences, ad headlines, ad images, ad videos, etc. With my clients, I set up three ad campaigns with three audiences in each campaign so I can see which behaviors and interests most resonate with the brand. I usually let the ads run for 2 weeks before changing anything (unless they are totally bombing). This is because you want a good sample of data before making adjustments. Throughout the life of your ad campaign, you will have good weeks and bad weeks.

After two weeks of testing different audiences and ads take a look at the data and see which audience and ad are converting the best. From there I usually turn off the two audiences that aren’t converting as well and then test two new audiences out against the highest-performing audience from the first batch. When you have the ability to test multiple audiences and ads you will find the audience that most resonates with your business and brand as well as the ad that most resonates with your audience. By testing these metrics you will bring down your cost per lead which will get you a higher return on your investment.

Keep Your Ads Running

Once you have a healthy budget and you commit to testing different pieces of your ad, the third key to a successful ad campaign is consistency. By consistency I mean keep your ads running! A two-week ad run will barely be enough time to allow Facebook to optimize. The longer you run your ads the smarter Facebook gets, because it learns more about your audience and which people within your audience are most likely to take action. I encourage you to run ads for 3 months straight before you’ll see the most optimized results. This is because as the ads run Facebook gets smarter and you have more time to test different ad copy, headlines, and audiences until you will find the sweet spot.

After three months hopefully, you have reached a place with your ad campaigns where they are bringing in more money than you are spending. You can let the ads run from here until your ads start to drop in conversion rate again. You’ll want to continue to check in on your ads. You may find that you will want to change up the ad images to give people something new to see. However, the shelf life of ads can be as long as 18 months which is incredible.

Bonus Tip

So there you go those are the three major keys to successful ad campaigns:

  1. A healthy budget
  2. Testing
  3. Consistency

However, I have one more tip for you. The fourth key to a wildly successful ad campaign is remarketing. Remarketing is the ability to follow up with your audience. This gives you the ability to serve ads to people that visit your website, download your free guide, watch your promo video, and more. This is a HUGE factor in the success of your campaign because it gives continuity to your audience. They are walked through a journey through your business building up trust. If you want to set yourself up for success then, I have the perfect resource for you.
